We meet at Visit Svalbard, where we get to know each other, assess everyone’s fitness level and the mood and choose the route for the day.

For ordinary bookings (non‑private groups), we offer several predefined route options.
For private bookings, we tailor the route together with the guests.

Perfect for getting to know Longyearbyen and its unique surroundings:

Option 1: Leisurely walk around town. Discover Longyearbyen’s history, culture, and everyday life with a knowledgeable local guide.

Option 2: Guided trek to the Global Seed Vault. Learn about one of the world’s most important conservation projects while enjoying an easy walk through the Arctic landscape.

Option 3: Trek towards the dog yard (the kennel). Meet the energetic Arctic sled dogs and experience a key part of Svalbard’s polar heritage.

Private Group Routes
after request, with price adjustment

For guests looking for a more exclusive and flexible experience:

Customized destinations. Hotellneset coastline, Bjørndalen, etc.
Special adjustments. these routes are tailored to your group and depend on weather conditions, group size, and specific requests.
Using a car. If requested, we can drive to the selected area and continue on foot, allowing you to explore places rarely visited on standard tours. Please note, if we use transportation vehicle, this tour will be less sustainable

Our Arctic nature walk is perfect for people of all ages who wish to get out into nature without doing anything too strenuous.

Along the way, the guide shares stories about Longyearbyen and helps spotting the animals

We stop at one of the area’s beautiful locations for a small picnic, where you can enjoy a warm drink and snacks.

The kennel is surrounded by one of the biggest bird collonies in Svalbard. Therefore, we recommend you to choose the Trek Towards the Dog Yard.

The Arctic Tundra is always a beautiful walking ground.

You can either enjoy the different kinds of blooming flowers during summer or the fluffy looking cotton grass and rich colors of autumn. Your guide is happy to share facts and stories with you about the area and our interesting life here.

The tour includes:
- Guided sightseeing tour in Longyearbyen with a local guide and 1-2 friendly dogs from the Svalbard Villmarkssenter family
- Traditional warm drinks and snacks
- Certified guiding with an experienced polar bear guard
- Several beautiful, social-media-worthy photos from your experience, shared with you afterwards
In addition:
- Both predefined and private sightseeing routes can be customized by destination, duration, and difficulty to match your physical condition, preferences, and comfort level.
- Choose between a scenic walking tour with dogs or a flexible private sightseeing tour to unique locations around Longyearbyen, Svalbard.
Cancellation policy:
- If cancelled 22 days or more prior to departure 100 % refund
- If cancelled 22-7 days prior to departure 50 % refund
- Cancellation less than 7 days prior to departure is a "no show" and does not qualify for any refund. You may apply to your insurance company for a refund if you provide a medical certificate.
- If Svalbard Villmarkssenter decides to cancel a trip due to weather conditions or any other reasons, you will receive a full refund!
